SR 19 Reconstruction and Shaler Street Bridge Replacement Wins ASHE National Award

Lochner is pleased to announce the SR 19 Reconstruction and Shaler Street Bridge Replacement project was selected by the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) for the 2021 National Project of the Year Award in the Under $20 Million category. Lochner led design and provided construction consultation services for this Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) project—the first in department history to incorporate self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs). The successful implementation of this accelerated bridge construction (ABC) technique reduced SR 19 construction closures to a total of four days, significantly minimizing impacts to motorists who rely on the regionally significant corridor.
