SR 19 Reconstruction and Shaler Street Bridge Replacement Wins ESWP Innovation Award

Lochner is pleased to announce the SR 19 Reconstruction and Shaler Street Bridge Replacement project was selected for the 2020 Innovation Project of the Year Award by the Engineers’ Society of Western Pennsylvania (ESWP). Lochner provided design and construction consultation services for this Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) project—the first in department history to incorporate self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs). The successful implementation of this accelerated bridge construction (ABC) technique reduced SR 19 construction closures to a total of four days, significantly minimizing impacts to motorists who rely on the regionally significant corridor.
