Lochner successfully provided comprehensive design services for key extensions and improvements within the Utah Transit Authority’s (UTA) rail infrastructure.

Lochner played a pivotal role in designing the first segment of double track for the UTA FrontRunner system, encompassing the extension of the UTA siding track in Vineyard, UT. The project involved various elements such as track, grading, drainage, minor structures, at-grade crossings, right-of-way engineering, and signal/train control. This complex endeavor, part of a CM/GC project, saw collaboration with UDOT, UTA, and Vineyard City.

Additionally, Lochner took charge of designing and creating an advertisement package for extending the second UTA rail line by approximately 1.8 miles. This expansion, constructed on UTA right-of-way, involved providing a comprehensive advertisement package covering tracks and station design. Lochner also addressed environmental considerations, including wetland, wildlife, and ULT delineation, with ROW documentation for TCEs (Temporary Construction Easements).

Recognizing operational challenges, UTA identified the imperative to extend the Vineyard station siding approximately 2 miles north. Lochner led the design efforts for this extension, addressing track, grading, drainage, minor structures, at-grade crossings, right-of-way engineering, and signal/train control. This extension is crucial for alleviating operational bottlenecks, especially with the impending opening of the Vineyard Station, and is integral to maintaining efficient UTA operations.
