Shatto Place Quick Build Project Receives 2025 ACEC Engineering Excellence Merit Award

We’re excited to share that our California team was recently honored with the 2025 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Engineering Excellence Merit Award at the ACEC of California Awards Banquet in Orange County! This recognition celebrates their outstanding work on the Los Angeles Department of Transportation Shatto Place Quick Build project in Los Angeles’ vibrant Koreatown neighborhood.

The project, designed to enhance student safety at Young Oak Kim Academy Middle School, included curb extensions, median railings, parklets, and more. In collaboration with the local community and school, our team also incorporated artful curb extensions and asphalt art, giving the space a unique touch. These elements will remain in place for 1-4 years as part of a medium-term initiative until funding is secured for permanence.

Congratulations to the project team on this well-deserved achievement! In addition to the ACEC award, the project has also received the 2024 APA California Chapter, APA Los Angeles Section Award of Excellence in the Best Practices category.
