Lochner Field Staff Supports Track Restoration and Railroad Bridge Construction for NICTD West Lake Corridor Project
Lochner’s field staff is providing construction management services as a subconsultant to AECOM for the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) West Lake Corridor Project, an 8-mile commuter rail extension from Hammond, IN to Dyer, IN, designed to improve connectivity between northwest Indiana and downtown Chicago.
During a precise 12-hour track closure, crews installed two temporary jump spans. The contractor, FH Paschen, completed key activities, including foundation and earth retention system installation, open deck track panel assembly, and track reinstallation following the jump span placement. These temporary spans will allow construction to progress on the north and south permanent bridge abutments while keeping railroad operations active.
This work is essential to advancing the project while maintaining uninterrupted rail service. A huge thank you to our dedicated field staff and all the teams working hard to move this critical infrastructure project forward!
