Salina Office Distributes USDA Emergency Food

Employees from Lochner’s Salina Office volunteered for the USDA Emergency Food Assistance Program Commodities Distribution of Saline County, an organization that provides food to local agencies and food banks. On September 9, 2019, and November 13, 2019, our Salina staff unloaded a food delivery truck and sorted through its contents, which included fresh and canned fruits and vegetables, fresh and dried eggs, meats, poultry, fish, milk, cheese, pasta products, and cereal. Our employees then set up the food for distribution. As a popular program for the community, Lochner’s Salina staff was grateful for the opportunity to help provide a vital resource for those less fortunate.

The Commodities Distribution of Saline County is part of a nationwide network. The USDA, through the Emergency Food Assistance Program, purchases nutritious high-quality food, which is then distributed among states based on unemployment and low-income numbers. From there, the food is delivered to local agencies and food banks.
