Bellevue, Everett, and Lacey Offices Feed the Community
As part of Lochner’s Giving Back Initiative, employees throughout the firm participate in an annual group service project that benefits the local communities in which they live, work, and play. This week, we are featuring the volunteer efforts of our Washington offices—Bellevue, Everett, and Lacey—for Food Lifeline, a non-profit organization that collects surplus food from farmers, manufacturers, grocery stores, and restaurants and gives it to those in need.
On June 22, 2019, Food Lifeline, with the help of Lochner employees, hosted a mobile food event at the Sea Mar Health Center in Burien, Washington. Lochner staff set up tables, organized four pallets of fresh fruits/vegetables and three large coolers of frozen items for easy distribution, helped patrons fill their bags with food, and assisted them to their cars. Once the event was over, Lochner’s Washington staff broke down the tables and helped Food Lifeline staff clean up. While the event was mostly attended by clinic patients and their families, it was open to anyone in the community. Lochner employees served approximately 16,000 pounds of food to 90 families.
Food Lifeline works with more than 300 food banks, shelters, and meal programs throughout Western Washington. The Sea Mar Health Center, where Food Lifeline’s mobile food event was held, is a non-profit organization committed to providing health and social services to underserved communities.
