Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) covers more than 26.9 miles of land and is the third busiest airport in the world, with 656,676 flights annually. The airport’s expansive geography combined with the large number of daily passengers makes efficient signage of the utmost importance.

To further enhance the customer experience, DFW is evaluating ways to improve their current wayfinding signage and streamline a passenger’s journey through the airport terminals and when using Skylink. After developing wayfinding and signage standards for DFW’s Signage Master Plan, Lochner was reselected for a second master on-call contract in 2019 to provide signage design, planning, and engineering services in the implementation of these standards. We were also reselected for a third contract in 2023 that will run until 2028.

Lochner’s scope of work includes both secure and non-secure areas of existing terminals, associated parking structures, surface parking spaces, upper and lower terminal curb fronts serving commercial and private vehicles, and roadways. We have onsite staff who work alongside DFW staff to deliver outstanding client service and minimize turnaround time for assignments.
