The $21 million, 45,000-square-foot Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife Field Headquarters is the Commonwealth’s first state-owned zero-net-energy office building. It achieved Platinum LEED certification and earned multiple design awards.

As the Civil Engineer of Record, Lochner optimized the parking layout to provide the necessary capacity while minimizing environmental impacts. The project team also designed stormwater systems to safeguard the water quality and limit the impact of runoff on the natural hydrology. Lochner’s efforts enabled the facility to secure valuable site-related LEED credits. The scope of work included comprehensive grading, parking design, site work, and utility connections, seamlessly integrating the facility into the surrounding 1,000-acre wildlife management area.

This state-of-the-art facility serves as a public destination, advancing conservation education and sustainability initiatives.
