The Moonridge Corridor Improvement is the largest public works project and stands as the most ambitious infrastructure venture in the City of Big Bear Lake’s history.
The Complete Streets project has transformed the Moonridge Road commercial corridor with a design that promotes pedestrian walkability and safety, traffic calming, and a sense of place for businesses to establish and flourish and a gathering place for the community and visitors.
Unique to the project is a dogbone-shaped roundabout at one end of the complete street and an oval roundabout at the other. The dogbone roundabout is a first of its kind in California. The project scope included street light design, design of a dedicated Class I Bikeway, on street parking, enhanced bus stops, widened sidewalks, 26 ADA ramps, a center landscaped median, and two travel lanes in each direction.
