Bringing safety improvements and education to school communities and encouraging more active transportation along routes to and from school.
Our planning team conducted community engagement and developed specific bicycle and pedestrian countermeasures to improve safety around 41 of the Top 50 schools with the most collisions within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). We worked with LADOT, StreetsLA, LAUSD, and school staff to coordinate walking safety assessment events with parents and students to identify safety problems and assess solutions to improve conditions.
The input received was used to develop engineering improvements, plans, and cost estimates in accordance with all Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and LADOT standards and guidelines. Our team also assisted the City in developing grant applications for Active Transportation Program (ATP) funding which resulted in the City being awarded approximately $50 million in construction capital.
Awards & Recognitions
