City of Leander – Water and Wastewater System Masterplans

Location Leander, Texas

Owner City of Leander

Our team prepared water and wastewater master plans to guide the future development of Leander’s collection and distribution systems to meet future demands. As the City expands, Leander was concerned with providing water service to areas within their Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction anticipating rapid growth in the coming years.

Our team met and coordinated with city staff to obtain system and operational information. Utilizing this information and recent population projections, we developed system demand scenarios for 20 years into the future, with snapshots every 5 years. A dynamic water model of the system was created to analyze existing and future conditions, plan improvements, and reconfigure the city’s pressure zones to meet minimum pressure criteria. On the wastewater side, spreadsheet models of each primary collection main and lift station were created for planning future flows. We developed a Capital Improvements Program for each system, ensuring compliance with both state and locally developed criteria. Detailed cost estimates for improvements were provided for future inclusion in impact fee studies.

The completed water and wastewater models and master plans guide the city in making improvements as it is built out and direct developers to construct infrastructure with the proper capacity for future development. Key elements of these master plans also play a crucial role in directing regional infrastructure projects the City participates in.
