SR 209 (9000 South), State Street to 700 East MBDC Project Wins ACEC Utah Award
Lochner’s SR 209 (9000 South), State Street to 700 East project received a 2021 Engineering Excellence Honor Award in the Transportation category from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Utah (ACEC Utah). This was the first Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) design-bid-build 3D digital delivery project (Model Based Design and Construction or MBDC) for a major urban corridor and set the standard for implementing this innovative design process on future UDOT projects. Lochner provided environmental, design, and public involvement services for the widening of SR 209 from five to seven lanes. The design scope of work included driveway tie-ins, sidewalk improvements, active transportation enhancements, drainage improvements, traffic signals, an advanced traffic management system (ATMS), utility coordination and relocations, light rail crossing coordination, a VMS structure, and a box culvert extension.
