Jameson Street Extension & SR 9 Roundabout Wins Award
Lochner was selected to develop preliminary and final design, as well as perform construction management for the project. Originating as a way to increase connectivity in the city and provide improved access to the downtown area, a new employment center, and the Sedro-Woolley Senior High School, the design included a two-lane, four-leg roundabout with sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, and a low-maintenance landscaped center, as well as the Jameson Street extensions. Lochner also designed 12 new street lights with energy-efficient LED bulbs, a new stormwater system, and a 550-foot-long, 10-foot-wide sidewalk that serves as shared use path along existing Jameson Avenue between the Sedro-Woolley High School administrative buildings and the sport fields.
The Jameson Street extension runs through a manufacturing site. Lochner selected the alignment with the fewest impacts to buildings on the site and coordinated with the property owner regarding demolitions and relocations. Lochner also performed utility coordination for the project, developed right of way plans, and oversaw the project’s public involvement program.
