Lauren Beckwith Awarded 2018 Young Engineer of the Year by ASCE Tallahassee
On February 23, 2018, the Florida Engineering Society (FES) Big Bend Chapter’s annual Engineer’s Week Banquet was held at the Los Robles Women’s Club in Tallahassee. During the banquet, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Tallahassee Chapter recognized members for their outstanding achievements. Lochner’s Lauren Beckwith was among those recognized as the recipient of the 2018 Young Engineer of the Year award.
Lauren was nominated and voted for by her peers in ASCE, where she serves as the chapter’s Younger Member Chair. She has been an active member of ASCE since her days as a student at Florida State University (FSU) College of Engineering. Lauren volunteers at several FES and ASCE events including the Westpoint Bridge Design Competition, MathCounts, and, most recently, the ASCE Dream Big events, a program providing engineering education resources for students K-12. By volunteering at these events, Lauren has the opportunity to encourage students to pursue careers in STEM fields, a cause that she is passionate about. At Lochner, Lauren works on Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) roadway design projects and planning studies, as well as stormwater management design.
