Donaldson Highway & Mineola Pike Named ASHE Bluegrass Transportation Improvement Project of the Year
We’re proud to announce that the Donaldson Highway and Mineola Pike Reconstruction in Erlanger, Kentucky, has been named the 2025 American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) Bluegrass Transportation Improvement Project of the Year in the Over $10 Million category.
Led by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), the project addressed growing traffic demands tied to Boone County’s development and Amazon’s $1.5 billion air hub expansion at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG). Lochner provided full-service project development and construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services.
The design widened both corridors to five-lane urban roadways, improved intersection geometry for safety and freight mobility, and integrated a multi-use trail with planned connections to the CVG Loop Trail. Key innovations included utility conflict avoidance through subsurface utility engineering (SUE) and Kentucky’s largest cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) installation to rehabilitate a major storm drain without traffic disruption.
