Lochner Honored with Multiple Awards at CSCE ACE Ceremony
Lochner is proud to have received multiple awards from the Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers (CSCE), the state section of ASCE, at this year’s Achievement in Civil Engineering (ACE) Awards, which recognized exceptional contributions within the civil engineering profession in 2024.
Connecticut Employer of the Year
Lochner was named Connecticut Employer of the Year in recognition of our active support of CSCE and strong commitment to employee engagement. This award honors firms that contribute through sponsorships, event participation, and leadership at both the state and national levels of ASCE.
In 2024, Lochner demonstrated these values through employee leadership on the CSCE Executive Board, participation in regional conferences, and sponsorship of multiple CSCE initiatives.
ACE Merit Award – Railroads
In partnership with WSP, Lochner received the ACE Merit Award in the Railroads category for emergency repair work on the Waterbury Branch Line in Seymour, Connecticut. Following significant flood damage, the project team delivered technically complex, rapid-response solutions that restored full rail service in just two months.
Lifetime Achievement Award – Roy Merritt Jr., PE
Resident Engineer and Senior Construction Inspector, Roy Merritt Jr., PE was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his long-standing service as Chair of CSCE’s Legislative Affairs Committee from 2007 to 2024. Over his tenure, Roy was a leading voice in infrastructure advocacy, testifying before the Connecticut legislature and transportation committees on issues such as transportation funding, tolling, and clean contracting standards.
The evening concluded with the ceremonial passing of the gavel from outgoing CSCE President and Lochner Office Engineer, Rich Cohen, PE, to incoming President Tyler Parker, PE, Structural Engineer and Construction Inspector, also of Lochner.
Congratulations to our team on these outstanding achievements!
