To improve safety and operations on a 3.8‐mile stretch of I‐10—from west of Adams Bayou to west of the Sabine River—the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is upgrading the highway to meet current interstate standards and replacing four mainline bridges. Lochner is TxDOT’s construction management consultant for this $68.4 million federally funded, state‐designed project.
The roadway improvements include the placement of full width, continually reinforced, concrete pavement; the installation of a concrete traffic barrier; and shoulder widening along the entire project length. Ten entrance and exit ramps that currently have non‐standard configurations will be reconstructed. The four replacement mainline bridges will be prestressed concrete girder structures on concrete pile foundations. The bridges range from 120 to 885 feet in length.
Lochner’s services include contract administration, construction inspection, material sampling and testing, daily progress reporting, assurance of compliance with the required permits, assistance with contractor queries, the resolution of field issues, the preparation of progress payment estimates, and the evaluation and negotiation of change orders.
