Country Club Road, a two-lane rural roadway, was approaching the end of its service life. Lochner was the prime design consultant in a reconstruction project that encompassed the entire road length—approximately 2.25 miles—from US 377 to FM 1830.
Lochner was responsible for schematic design through to the submission of final plans, specifications, and estimates. In addition to the reconstruction of both travel lanes, Lochner’s design widened the roadway to accommodate full-width shoulders on both sides and a right–left turn lane for traffic accessing Denton Country Club. Under the existing conditions, Country Club Road met FM 1830 at an acute angle, forming a Y-intersection. To increase safety, Lochner’s design plans realigned Country Club Road in this location to form a more standard T-intersection. Lochner’s plans also replaced the existing asphalt pavement with concrete to reduce roadway maintenance requirements and included a new drainage system, nine box culverts, and all ancillary features, such as pavement marking and signing. Lochner subsequently provided construction management services for the project.
