The Vineyard Commuter Rail Station was recently announced as the Grand Prize winner of the America’s Transportation Awards at the National AASHTO Conference. Sponsored by AASHTO, AAA, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, America’s Transportation Awards honor state DOTs and the positive impacts their projects have on communities nationwide.
Consisting of a new station and an approximately two-mile double track extension, the Vineyard Commuter Rail Station marks the first joint project delivery effort between the Utah Department of Transportation and the Utah Transit Authority. Located in the state’s fastest growing city, Vineyard City, this project benefits pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users by providing a major hub for Utah County.
Lochner led the environmental document preparation for the project and was the lead designer for the double track extension, providing track, grading, drainage, utilities, minor structures, and at-grade crossing design along with project management and coordinating development of the UDOT CM/GC advertising package. We are proud to have been involved in this collaborative effort that positions Vineyard as an inclusive, accessible community to allow for continued explosive growth.
