I-84/Blacks Creek Road Interchange Design Wins ACEC Idaho Award

Lochner is pleased to announce that the I-84/Blacks Creek Road Interchange Design project was selected by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Idaho as the first-place winner in Structural Systems (Category C) during the 2021 Engineering Excellence Awards. Lochner led design efforts and produced design plans and construction documents within an eight‐month accelerated schedule. Lateral bridge slides were used to replace both the eastbound and westbound single-span structures on I-84 over Blacks Creek Road in Ada County, Idaho. A first for Idaho’s interstate system, the use of accelerated bridge construction (ABC) techniques significantly reduced traffic impacts and queuing on this critical east-west corridor in southern Idaho.
