Vance Henry, PE

West Regional Team Leader

Vance Henry joined Lochner as Boise office manager in 2005 and in 2016, was appointed as west regional team leader. Hired by Lochner’s past president, Larry Thomas, and then director of strategic business development, Denny Ingham, Vance notes their influence in the evolution of his management and leadership style. “Denny had a saying that one should always inject empathy anytime other people were involved – employees or clients”. As a leader, this philosophy has stuck with Vance. “I have learned to be empathetic, listen, and avoid being wishy washy. When you need to make a decision, analyze it, make your decision, and stick to it. However, be prepared to admit when you are wrong.” Vance earned a B.S. in Geological Engineering from the University of Idaho and a M.S. in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University.

“Lochner is more of a home-grown business. A lot of the people who are part of Lochner have been here a long time. I believe this is in part because the firm understands good ideas don’t just come the top. They can come from anyone within the company.”
